Nathan Finneman has been flying since childhood, including hang gliders for a time. But when he found paramotors in 2010 he’s been flying them over the world and in air shows. He also represented the USA in the World Air Sports Federation’s (FAI) world paramotor slalom championships. Finneman was at the Lake County Airport (KLXV) in Leadville, Colorado, to launch on his record-setting flight. LXV is the highest public-use airport in North America at 9,934 feet MSL. ‘Green Hydrogen’ Balloon Takes Flight

Power Generated Through Purely Solar Energy

On September 25, a unique gas balloon took off from the region of Gruyère, Switzerland. In a “green” approach towards energy production, the hydrogen used in the flight was produced purely by water using solar energy. The flight was piloted by Laurent Sciboz and Nicolas Tièche, winners of the 2019 FAI Long Distance Gas Balloon World Championships.

After seeing a Facebook post about a family stranded on a mountain, Jordan Seidhom and his son set out on a rescue mission with their Robinson R44 helicopter. Louisiana Guard And State Police Partner For Aerial Firefighting Training

Use Of Water Buckets Enhances Capabilities

Pilots from the Louisiana National Guard’s 204th Theater Airfield Operations Group (TAOG) partnered with Louisiana State Police (LSP) pilots for training in the use of water buckets for aerial firefighting. The training was held at the Joint Emergency Services Training Center in Zachary, Louisiana, with the goal of enhancing the capabilities of LSP to respond to wildfires. A large water bucket is a tool specialized for aerial firefighting and is suspended from a helicopter to drop large quantities of water to extinguish fires in inaccessible remote areas.

Contract For F-35 Engine Core Upgrade Goes To Pratt & Whitney

$1.3 Billion For Continued Maturing Its Upgrade

Pratt & Whitney announced it has received a contract worth $1.3 billion for the continuing the maturation process of its Engine Core Upgrade (ECU) for the F-35 Lightning II’s F135 engine. The contract is set up as a cost-plus-incentive fee structure that covers design, analysis, rig testing, engine test prep, developmental hardware, test asset assembly, air system integration, airworthiness evaluation, and product support. The U.S. Navy made the award as it is overseeing F-35 contracting at this time.

The Pilot Responded That He Was Having “Handling Problems” Followed By A Partial Radio Transmission Of “Test Flight; I Can’T Get This Thing To.”

On August 31, 2024, about 1030 Pacific daylight time, a Cessna 421C, N421GP was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Fairview, Oregon. The two pilots and one person on the ground were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. Prior to departure, the pilot contacted the Troutdale Airport (TTD), Portland, Oregon, Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) and requested a visual flight rules departure from runway 25 and to remain within the airport traffic pattern.
