Boeing’s Q3 Losses Put Credit Agencies On Alert

No Rating Action Yet But Will Continue Monitoring Carefully

Credit agency S&P Global Ratings said in an October 14 press release that Boeing’s preliminary third-quarter losses are mostly due to cost overruns and delays in new commercial and defense aircraft development. Those charges will total about $5 billion in noncash charges but do reflect changes in cash flow in future years.

A Wright B Flyer replica aircraft was forced to execute an emergency landing after experiencing an engine fire in flight. The pilots, fortunately, were able to walk away unharmed. The aircraft took off from Wright Patterson AFB at around 4:47 pm. It was performing an aerial flyover as part of Wright Field's 97th anniversary celebration. Then, at approximately 5:07 pm, it experienced a malfunction that led to the engine catching fire. X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle To Begin Advanced Space Maneuvers

Boeing-Built Craft Will Perform Aerobraking To Lower Orbit

Ten months into its 7th mission, the X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle will perform a series of aerobraking maneuvers that will take the spaceplane from a Highly Elliptical Orbit (HEO) to a lower altitude using minimal fuel. This will be the first time the X-37B, Boeing, and the U.S. Space Force attempt such a new demonstration. During aerobraking, the craft will use the drag of Earth’s atmosphere to slow itself down by reducing its kinetic energy and changing its orbit using just a minimal amount of fuel.

Founded Museum With His Wife, Gift Includes 70 Vintage Military Aircraft

The Military Aviation Museum has been gifted an incredible $100 million donation by Gerald and Elaine Yagen, who also opened the Museum in 2008 as a private collection. The gift includes 70 vintage military aircraft that Yagen collected over the years, the property the Museum is situated on as well as the historic buildings that were relocated there, and $30 million to establish the Museum’s endowment, which is earmarked to ‘Keep Em Flying’ as the Museum says.

Navy Parachutist Misses Target, Impacts Spectators

Mother and Daughter Taken to Hospital for Minor Injuries

NTSB Prelim: Champion 7EC

(Video) Showed The Tailwheel-Equipped Airplane Gradually Descend About A 45° Angle Into The Water

On October 7, 2024, about 1240 central daylight time, a Champion 7EC airplane, N4337C, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near Fort Worth, Texas. The pilot sustained fatal injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to the pilot’s family, the airplane was based at the Flying Oaks Airport (2TE2), Fort Worth, Texas. The purpose of the local area flight was for the pilot to depart from 2TE2, land and have lunch at an unknown location, and then return to 2TE2.
