General Atomics And Navy Fly MQ-20 Avenger Demo

Commanded Autonomy Maneuvers Tested With Lockheed And Navy Systems

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) announced it completed a successful demonstration of its MQ-20 Avenger UAS to perform commanded autonomous maneuvers in a demonstration with the U.S. Navy (USN). The Navy used its MD-5 Ground Control Station (GCS) along with Lockheed Martin’s MDCX autonomy platform to command and control the jet-powered aircraft. The GA-ASI team successfully performed the flight demo over a Proliferated Low Earth Orbit (PLEO) datalink.

Plane Thief Pleads ‘No Contest’ to Felony Charge

50-Year-Old Stole Plane, Nosed Over on Beach During Landing

Luiz Gustavo Aires, also known as "Sunrock," has pleaded no contest to a felony charge for the theft of an airplane from Palo Alto Airport. Final sentencing is slated for December 6. The aircraft nosed over into the sand, but ultimately received little exterior damage. Aries is accused of stealing a small aircraft, valued at around $150,000, from the Palo Alto Airport. Sentenced to Nearly 20 Months in the Can After Dangerous Move

A Havre, Montana woman received a 19 month, 24 day prison sentence for diving at an aircraft’s flight controls during landing. The incident occurred last year on a Cape Air commercial flight. The case was chaired by Chief U.S. District Judge Brian M. Morris, prosecuted by the US Attorney's Office, and investigated by the FBI and Hill County Sheriff’s Office.

Israel Purchases 25 Next-Gen F-15 Fighters From Boeing

$5.2 Billion Deal With Option For 25 Additional Aircraft

The Israeli Defense Ministry announced it had signed a deal to acquire 25 next generation F-15IA fighter jets from Boeing. The deal is part of a Congressionally-approved aid package and includes an option for 25 additional aircraft. These are the first new Eagles Israel has purchased since 1995 , and the aid deal includes upgrading the country’s F-15I aircraft for a total value of $18.8 billion.  The aircraft will be equipped with weapons systems integrated with existing Israeli weapons and will also have a longer range and a heavier payload capacity. Deliveries of 4-6 aircraft per year will begin in 2031.
