LA County FD Int’l SAR Unit To Support Jamaica Recovery

USA-2 Team With 4 Canines To Assist Initial Medical Stabilization

The Los Angeles County Fire Department’s international search and rescue team, USA-2 (Urban Search and Rescue) was slated to depart for Jamaica on a charter flight with 34 team members, 4 canine assistants, and 42,000 lbs of support equipment. There, they will assist with search, rescue, and recovery as well as initial medical care and stabilization for people who they locate trapped under rubble or collapsed structures.

Shortly After Rotation From Runway 28r, The Airplane Began To Drift Left

On September 26, 2025, about 1040 mountain daylight time, a SIAI-MARCHETTI SF 260B, N272C, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Billings, Montana. The pilot and passenger were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations part 91 flight. The pilot reported that shortly after rotation from runway 28R, the airplane began to drift left. He applied corrective control inputs and was able to maintain control while in ground effect, but the airplane would not climb.
