McCabe Has Accumulated More Than 2,700 Helicopter Hours And Countless Successful Rescue Missions

HAI has awarded U.S. Coast Guard MH-60 pilot LCDR Robert McCabe their 2021 Pilot of the Year Award. The award recognizes an outstanding single feat performed by a helicopter pilot during the year or extraordinary professionalism over a period of time. US Coast Guard (USCG) Lt. Cdr. Robert McCabe didn’t set out to be a helicopter pilot. He joined the Coast Guard with a desire to be actively involved in humanitarian and search-and-rescue work. While assigned to a ship in Astoria, Oregon, he was inspired watching the MH-60T Jayhawks perform multiple harrowing rescues. Embraer has sold 19 EMB-203 Ipanema single-seat aircraft in February, totaling 27 aircraft sold this year. FAA Proposes $115,500 Civil Penalty Against Fenix Air Charter of South Carolina

'Conducted Approximately 18 Charter Flights In A Twin-Engine Cessna 402B That Was Not Airworthy'

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes a $115,500 civil penalty against Fenix Air Charter, of Spartanburg, S.C., for allegedly conducting charter flights in an aircraft that did not comply with airworthiness regulations. The FAA alleges that between July 9 and July 13, 2020, Fenix Air Charter conducted approximately 18 charter flights in a twin-engine Cessna 402B that was not airworthy. The aircraft was not airworthy because the company failed to rebalance the flight controls after painting the aircraft, as the aircraft maintenance manual requires.

NTSB Prelim: Luscombe 8E

The Left Engine Cowl Was Open And Flapping Up And Down

On February 28, 2021, at 1230 eastern standard time, a Luscombe 8E, N2601T, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Jupiter, Florida. One pilot sustained fatal injuries and the second pilot sustained serious injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. According to a mechanic, who was also a close friend of the pilot, the pilot purchased the tailwheel-equipped airplane in October 2020 in order for his son, the second pilot, to gain additional experience flying tailwheel-equipped airplanes. The airplane was based at the Tailwinds Airport (FD15), Jupiter, Florida, a residential fly-in community.
