Pan Am Announces Acquisition Of A B757-200 FFS And A 757 FTD

The Level D Simulator Also Has Upset Recovery Capabilities

Pan Am Flight Academy has acquired a Boeing 757-200, Full-Flight simulator. This Level D simulator, along with a level 5 Flight Training Device (FTD), are currently being relocated from Dallas Fort Worth, Texas to the Pan Am Headquarters in Miami, Florida and are scheduled to be available for training by November 1, 2021. The Level D Full-Flight Simulator, and level 5 FTD come fully equipped with the latest IS&S cockpit. Both machines include Rolls Royce RB211 engine models, GPS, and SMGCS capabilities. The level D simulator also has upset recovery (UPRT Dir 2).

VP-10 Has Assisted In Multiple Successful Counter-Narcotics Missions

The “Red Lancers” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 10, currently operating out of Cooperative Security Location (CSL) in Comalapa, El Salvador, continue their success across the U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations (AOO). Working with the U.S. Coast Guard, along with partner nation assets from Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Mexico, VP-10 has assisted in multiple successful counter-narcotics missions. Since their arrival in May 2021, VP-10 has flown over 300 operational hours in the P-8A Poseidon aircraft and aided in the seizure of 12,739 kilograms of cocaine and 7,000 pounds of marijuana with a combined estimated street value of over $903 million.

NTSB: Poor Braking After Heavy Rain Led to 737 Rwy Overrun 737 Overrun

737 Overran Runway 10 At Jacksonville NAS, While Landing In A Heavy Rainstorm May 3, 2019

A jetliner overran a rain-soaked runway due to an “extreme loss of braking friction,” the National Transportation Safety Board said in a report released this week. Miami Air International flight 293, a Boeing 737 charter transporting U.S. Department of Defense personnel from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, ended up in shallow waters of the St. Johns River after it overran runway 10 at Jacksonville Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida, while landing in a heavy rainstorm May 3, 2019. Although none of the 143 passengers and crew onboard were seriously injured, several animals carried in the cargo compartment died in the accident.

NTSB Prelim: Piper PA-28-180

No Flight Plan Had Been Filed And The Pilot Was Not In Contact With Air Traffic Control

On July 14, 2021, at 1238 central daylight time, a Piper PA-28-180, N2801T, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Muscatine, Iowa. The pilot and the passenger were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 personal flight. The pilot held a private pilot certificate for single-engine airplanes and did not have an instrument rating. No flight plan had been filed and the pilot was not in contact with air traffic control. The flight originated from the Ford Airport (IML), Iron Mountain, Michigan, at 0918, and the destination has not been confirmed.
