Hopes To Certify Airframe With FAA By 2025

Overair has finally revealed the commercial design of the Butterfly eVTOL, which has been kept strictly under wraps until now. The project is led by Abe Karem, the creator of the Predator unmanned aerial vehicle and the A160 Hummingbird. In January 2020 Overair was established as a spin-off of Karem Aircraft, which now focuses solely on defense contracts. The five-passenger Butterfly is designed to produce zero carbon emissions in flight. Its propulsion system is known as Optimum Speed Propulsion, which gives it unique capabilities.

ELERA Will Use Two New Soon To Launch I-6 Satellites

Inmarsat reports plans to invest in ELERA, a wholesale upgrade of its L-Band network. Plans included will be tripling the speed of the network and introducing smaller terminals that are used by customers to receive and decode the satellite signal. Inmarsat is making these changes to meet the demand for IoT. A large portion of the demand comes from connectivity for remote locations, with aviation included. The network will help with communications at disaster relief sites, and support the use of drones.

NASA researchers released a study Wednesday that informs the community about potentially hazardous asteroid Bennu through the year 2300, using precision-tracking data from the agency’s Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, Security-Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) spacecraft. South-Central Florida Metroplex Initiative Will Optimize Aircraft Arrival And Departure Procedures

On Aug. 12, the FAA went live with the second phase of new air traffic routes and procedures that improve the safety and efficiency of airspace in South-Central Florida. The project, often referred to as the South-Central Florida Metroplex initiative, will optimize aircraft arrival and departure procedures to and from 21 airports. New routes include changes in aircraft flight paths and altitudes in certain areas, but would not increase the number of aircraft operations at any of the airports. It is one of 11 Metroplex projects nationwide to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in major metropolitan areas across the country.

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Airbus Canada Model BD-500-1A10 and BD-500-1A11 airplanes. This AD was prompted by the potential for the flexible hose assembly of the fuel motive flow (MF), installed between the pylon and wing, to be installed twisted in the shroud, which can restrict the flow of fuel for the MF and cause fuel imbalance and damage to the shroud assembly. Security Notice (SECNOT) A SECNOT is a request originated by the Air Traffic Security Coordinator (ATSC) for an extensive communications search for aircraft involved, or suspected of being involved, in a security violation, or are considered a security risk. A SECNOT will include the aircraft identification, search area, and expiration time. The search area, as  defined by the ATSC, could be a single airport, multiple airports, a radius of an airport or fix, or a route of flight. Once the expiration time has been reached, the SECNOT is considered to be canceled.
