SAFE Says CFI ACS Work Restarts

Update to PTS May Eventually See Light of Day

The FAA has updated the ACS Working Group with the agency’s plan to publish future updates, after a period of pause that left some instructors wondering if they would ever come to be. The private pilot and commercial pilot Airman Certification Standards were completed years ago, but up to now, no further developments have occurred due to administrative disputes in the publication process. Warns Possible Radio Altimeter Anomalies Beginning December 5

The impending rollout of 5G networks across the United States has been a concern for industry experts, with worries that the licensed frequency ranges used in the next generation network has some overlap with frequencies used in radar altimeters. The FAA has released their bulletin outlining their concerns, including a request for industry action to aid in testing and evaluation. The agency needs wide-ranging data to establish the warranted level of caution going forward. NTSB Prelim: Cessna P210

Rolled Left And Reached An Inverted Attitude Before It Impacted Nose First

On October 8, 2021, about 1311 eastern daylight time, a Cessna P210N, N128EE, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident at Dekalb-Peachtree Airport (PDK), Atlanta, Georgia. The pilot, and three passengers were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. Review of PDK airport security surveillance video revealed that the airplane lifted off about 1,000 ft down runway 21 in a nose-high attitude. The airplane then rolled left and reached an inverted attitude before it impacted nose first beside the runway.
