Uncle Sam Wants Answers for Unexplained Airspace Incursions 

After a somewhat disappointing revelation of UFO activity in the summer of 2021, with some unusual footage and a few shrugs from the relevant authorities. After much buildup about answers, truth, and strange happenings, the end result was a bit underwhelming for those who imagined secret databanks of flagrant alien operations or mysterious, spooky phenomena. The Pentagon must take the occurrences seriously, however, as they have opened the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group (AOIMSG) under the office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence & Security. 

$246.48 Million Contract Is For Six MH-47G Block II Chinooks Plus Spares

Boeing will build six more MH-47G Block II Chinooks for the U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command as part of a $246.48 million contract. Delivery of these aircraft are scheduled to start in 2023. With this additional order, Boeing is now under contract for 30 MH-47G Block II Chinooks, four of which have been delivered to date. These aircraft will be the first to include the new Active Parallel Actuator Subsystem (APAS), a mission system that helps pilots execute more difficult maneuvers while improving safety and reliability of flight.

On November 4, 2021, at 1930 eastern daylight time, a Cessna 150M, N704HQ, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Margarettsville, North Carolina. The pilot was not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The pilot reported that after descending to about 1,600 ft mean sea level, while on the localizer approach to runway 34 at the Emporia-Greensville Regional Airport (EMV), Emporia, Virginia, the engine began to “sputter.”

AD 2021-22-21 Identifies The Unsafe Condition As Failure Of A Circuit Breaker (CB) Switch

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all ASI Aviation (type certificate previously held by Reims Aviation S.A.) Model F406 airplanes. This AD was prompted by mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI identifies the unsafe condition as failure of a circuit breaker (CB) switch. This AD requires replacing certain CB switches and establishing a life limit for the CB switches. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective January 3, 2022.

AD 2021-22-16 Requires Replacing The MGB, Or As An Alternative, Replacing The Epicyclic Reduction Gear Module

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Airbus Helicopters Model EC 155B and EC155B1 helicopters. This AD was prompted by the failure of a main gearbox (MGB) second stage planet gear. This AD requires replacing the MGB, or as an alternative, replacing the epicyclic reduction gear module for certain serial numbered planet gear assemblies installed on the MGB. This AD also requires inspecting the MGB magnetic plugs and MGB filter for  particles, and for certain serial-numbered planet gear assemblies, inspecting the oil sump for particles.
