USCG Hoists Two From Aircraft Down In Marsh

Instructor, Student Pilot From Averett University Uninjured In Off-Airport Landing

A long-distance training flight returning to Averett University in Danville, Virginia from Savannah, Georgia, experienced an autopilot malfunction almost immediately after departure and the pilots had to put the Piper Cherokee down in a field near Little Back River, South Carolina. Due to the marshy terrain and lack of access roads, the instructor and student pilot had to be hoisted from the field by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) but fortunately there were no injuries.

Blue Angels Return to Jacksonville Show in 2025

Blues Headlining Sea & Sky Air Show In October

The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will be returning to the Jacksonville Sea & Sky Air Show in 2025 after all, the city announced on December 10. The Sea & Sky show had been canceled when the Blues scheduled the Chennault International Air Show in Louisiana instead. However, that show fell through because of what was reported to be an inability to reach agreement on a venue.

NMC Aviation Program Awarded $250k in Anonymous Donations

Fundraising Campaign Hopes to Expand Hangar, Classroom, and Fleet

Northwestern Michigan College’s aviation program recently received two large anonymous donations, worth a total of $250,000. These funds will be used to expand the program’s hangar, aircraft fleet, and classroom space. Doing so, however, comes with a $14 million price tag.
