Follows NTSB Recommendation from FedEx Crash in 2002

The Federal Aviation Administration recently published its new restrictions on color vision exams, replacing the original paper testing book with ‘modern digital testing equipment. The regulation will take effect on January 1, 2025. The modifications will only affect initial applicants or those with a color vision medical restriction.

Bell Validates Folding Rotor In Wind Tunnel Testing

System Combines Jet Speeds With VTOL Capability

Bell Textron announced the completion of wind tunnel testing of its Stop/Fold folding rotor system at the National Institute for Aviation Research at Wichita State University. This testing was in support of the DARPA Speed and Runway Independent Technology (SPRINT) program, and follows the successful evaluation of the rotor system using the Holloman High Speed Test Track in New Mexico in 2023.

Graduates of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s air traffic control (ATC) program has been approved for the Enhanced Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) program through which they can be placed directly into FAA facilities for controller training when they meet certain conditions. To be placed directly into training, grads must pass the Air Traffic Skills Assessment (ATSA) exam and also meet medical and security requirements.

The Airplane Impacted A Densely Forested Area About 60 NM South Of PRX

On November 27, 2024, about 18:30 central standard time, a Cozy Mark III, N51810 was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Mineola, Texas. The pilot and passenger were fatally injured. The flight was operated under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight. The airplane departed Houston Southwest Airport (AXH), Houston, Texas, about 1720. The pilot was on a visual flight rules (VFR) flight plan and received VFR flight following while en route to his destination airport, Cox Field Airport (PRX), Paris, Texas.

NASA Head To Fly Electra’s EL2 Goldfinch

Hybrid-Electric Prototype Featured In Media Event

NASA announced a media event for Administrator Bill Nelson, who never met a media event he couldn't put himself in the middle of, is set to fly in Electra’s EL2 Goldfinch experimental prototype on December 8 at 11:45 a.m. EST at Manassas Regional Airport (KHEF) in Manassas, Virginia. Nelson and Electra leaders will be available to speak with the media prior to the flight, which will be open for viewing and filming. The aircraft will perform ultra-short takeoffs and landings with as little as 150 feet of ground roll, and will also include a battery-only landing.
