Airborne 12.02.24: Electra FG EIS, Prez Osprey Problems, Starship Wants 25

Elektra Solar recently put the first aircraft from its Elektra Trainer Fixed-Gear (FG) family into service. The electric aircraft will be used to train students at the Lorenzen Flight School in Landshut, Germany. The Elektra Trainer has been flying since 2011 and is a member of the German ultralight class. It is a modified version of the company’s Elektra One, given a longer fuselage and reinforced wings. The aircraft has an impressive 25:1 glide ratio, 1969 fpm climb rate, and 75 mph cruise speed. PHL Terminal D Lost Power For Nearly 17 Hours, Delaying Flights

As if post-holiday travel isn’t problematic enough on its own, travelers at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) faced lengthy delays after losing power for nearly 17 hours. The mysterious outage only affected Terminal D. Best part is, the airport still does not know what caused the outage or if it will happen again. Terminal D reportedly lost power at around 9:00 pm local time on November 29. Six arrivals, three from Delta and three from United, were rerouted to Terminal A. This was just the beginning of a confusing and delay-filled day.

Airplane Entered An Aerodynamic Stall And Began An Uncommanded Left Turn

Analysis: The pilot stated that he was departing at the time of the accident. As the airplane became airborne, it climbed to about 30 ft above ground level and the pilot was applying left rudder to counteract the torque from the engine. The airplane entered an aerodynamic stall and began an uncommanded left turn. The pilot did not have enough altitude to recover and the airplane continued to turn left. The right wing struck a tree and the airplane impacted the ground and came to rest upright.
