Delta Pilots Without New Contract Despite Airline Posting $1.4-billion Profit

It Isn’t Money That Trickles Downhill…

Delta Air Lines reported second quarter 2022 profits of $1.4-billion and stated that it’s poised to return to 2019 levels of record profitability. Delta management also posited that neither the difficulties confronting the airline industry, nor the overall gloomy, world economic forecast were likely to adversely affect the airline’s profitability. The optimistic sentiment belied the fact that Delta’s pilots—represented by the Airline Pilots Association International (ALPA)—are currently in negotiations for a new employment contract.

C-17 Highlights Air Mobility Command at Oshkosh

A C-17 Globemaster III based out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state will attend EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2022, and will be showcasing the capabilities of the U.S. Air Force’s Air Mobility Command. The aircraft will be at AirVenture on Sunday, July 24, through Sunday, July 31, based on Boeing Plaza. It will also fly aerial demonstrations on Thursday, July 28; Saturday, July 30; and Sunday, July 31, during the afternoon air shows starting at 2:30 p.m. During these demo flights, you will see the pilots push the C-17 to its limits and demonstrate the use of advanced technology within the aircraft.

European Charter Operator Conditionally Pre-Orders Fifty VX4 eVTOL Aircraft

Vertical Aerospace, the Bristol, UK-based concern that designs and manufactures Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft—has announced that FLYINGGROUP, the European charter operator and broker of business aircraft, has conditionally pre-ordered up to 50 of its VX4 aircraft. The VX4 is a piloted, eVTOL aircraft ostensibly capable of transporting four passengers and a pilot one-hundred-miles (161-kilometers) at speeds of up to two-hundred miles per hour (320-kilometers per hour). Pilot Reported There Were No Preimpact Mechanical Malfunctions Or Failures With The Airframe

On July 1, 2022, about 1225 mountain daylight time, a Cub Crafters CC18-180 airplane, N469AK, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado. The pilot sustained minor injury. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 glider tow flight.The pilot completed the preflight activities and flew a tow pattern and was on the second tow flight to an altitude of about 9,500 ft above msl.
