The following is a message from Larry Gregory, president of the
Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, TX concerning damage the
museum sustained from this weekend's onslaught from Hurricane
Ike.

A satellite's rotational period is equal to its orbital period;
this causes the same side of a satellite to always face the planet.
Synchronous rotation occurs when a planet's gravity produces a
tidal bulge in its satellite. The gravitational attraction and
bulge acts like a torque, which slows down the satellite until it
reaches a synchronous rotation.

Jennifer Storm, speaking of the community effort undertaken
by AOPA and the Air Safety Foundation as they reached out to a
shocked community in an effort to present the facts about GA and
its safety record. The association also worked with North Las Vegas
Airport Support Network Volunteer Kathleen Snaper to reach out to
local pilots and the surrounding community.
