Joint Task Force 129 Airmen Rescue Civilians Stranded in Galveston

California Air National Guardsmen from the 129th Rescue Wing rescued eight people this weekend in Galveston, Texas. The air guardsmen deployed to Kelly Field in San Antonio for Hurricane Ike search and rescue support operations.

$5.1B Contract OK'ed For Construction of Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) A/C Carrier

Northrop Grumman Corporation has won a $5.1 billion, 7-year (cost plus incentive fee) contract award for detail design and construction of the Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. This new class of carrier is the replacement for the Nimitz-class design that originated in the 1960s.
