Clean-Sheet Commuter Twin Proceeding to Market

Cessna's Utilitarian twin turboprop has gotten closer to open release after receiving type certification from the FAA. The new, clean-sheet design stands out from the rest of the Cessna portfolio, a notably fresh addition to a roster of planes that all too often date back decades. The SkyCourier, a little late following the global delays incurred during the disruptions of 2020 and beyond, is now proceeding along on its way to production and delivery. Cessna calls it a "load-leading, cost-crushing, revenue-generating, business tool," an aircraft with a payload capacity of 6,000 pounds, and a single-pilot flight deck.

Series E Brings in 170 Million for eVTOL Manufacturer

Volocopter has completed their series E funding round in an effort with South Korean investor WP Investment, at a pre-money valuation of $1.7 billion. The company says it will help expand its sustainable urban air mobility efforts through its sub-brands VoloCity, VoloConnect, and VoloDrone. Volocopter drew a considerable measure of attention from the investment scene as the only eVTOL manufacturer that holds an EASA Design Organisation Approval, putting them just ahead of the pack of similar competing manufacturers.

Bizjets to Serve as VIP Transports, RAF Runabouts as Replacement for Aging British Aerospace 146

Dassault has completed a sale to the Royal Air Force of the UK which will put 2 Falcon 900LX business jets into service. Designated as the new Command Support Air Transport", the aircraft will be used for VIP carriage for "senior defense and government officials" once in service replacing a fleet of 4 aging BAE 146 aircraft. The RAF cites the increased range, capability, reduced expenses, fuel consumption, and emissions benefits as the factors that pushed the replacement.

AD 2022-05-13 Prompted By A Report Of In-Flight Smoke And Fire That Initiated From The Windshield Heat Power Wire Braid

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Honda Aircraft Company LLC (Honda) Model HA-420 airplanes. This AD was prompted by a report of in-flight smoke and fire that initiated from the windshield heat power wire braid. This AD requires incorporating temporary revisions into the airplane flight manual (AFM) and the quick reference handbook (QRH) that modify procedures for windshield heat operation until the affected windshield assemblies are replaced. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective April 18, 2022.
