Camden Spaceport's fate is once again on the rocks, after a referendum "overwhelmingly" rejected the planned development earlier this week. The referendum posed a question to voters: "Shall the resolutions of the Board Commissioners of Camden County, Georgia authorize the Option Contract with Union Carbide Corporation and Camden County’s right and option to purchase the property described therein be repealed."

Airline's Resurgent Passenger Loads Often Force Pilots Into Exhausting Lines, Says Council Chairman

Delta Pilots have picketed the airline's largest hub in Atlanta, Georgia in protest of company scheduling practices that employees say force them to overextend themselves to maintain the company. Current scheduling, they say, makes the pilots "fly long days or work additional days to keep the airline running," and fear that the imminent spring break and summer travel seasons will only exacerbate the problem and further reduce employee quality of life. 

New Syllabus Cuts CPL Down to 165 Hours, with 25% Fewer Flight Hours and 35% Less Ground Time 

AeroGuard Flight Training Center has received FAA approval for its new Reduced Hours Commercial Pilot Course, cutting the cost and time required to complete a commercial pilot rating. The changes result in a more affordable course that comes in at 165 total hours, cutting overall program time by 35%. Flight hours are reduced by  25%, which AeroGuard says provides "significant time and cost savings compared with other courses or other top flight schools."

MD Helicopters has signed a 5-year maintenance agreement with Houston Police Department, ensuring consistent performance for their 8 MD 500Es. The deal will pay particular attention to drive train components in the police fleet, keeping them aloft with minimal fuss for department management. The Houston Police Air Support Unit provides a variety of traditional law enforcement services to local and federal agencies that includes some rare maritime functions given the geography under their jurisdiction.

Daher has appointed its first Scandinavian service center after the first TBM 940 was delivered to Denmark. The new owner of the aircraft will be able to avail themselves of the services of Uni-Fly A/S, found in the Hans Christian Andersen Airport near the city of Odense. On February 22, 2022, about 2241 eastern standard time, a Piper PA32 airplane, N3952W, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Fostoria, Ohio. The pilot and passenger were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 personal flight. The flight was conducted as an instrument flight rules (IFR) flight from Effingham County Memorial Airport (1H2), Effingham, Illinois, to Findlay Airport (FDY), Findlay, Ohio. The filed IFR flight plan stipulated a cruise altitude of 9,000 ft mean sea level (MSL), an estimated time enroute of 1 hour and 28 minutes, and 4 hours of fuel on board.

AD 2022-05-11 Requires A Bolt Hole Eddy Current Inspection Of The Lug Plate Holes

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for Viking Air Limited (type certificate previously held by Bombardier Inc.) Model DHC-3 airplanes with a certain wing strut assembly installed. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) originated by an aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI identifies the unsafe condition as fatigue damage of the wing struts.
