Designed with cost and time reduction in mind, the Vy 400 design may be set to give Transcend Air access to regional, city-to-city travel with its vertical takeoff and landing potential. Gregory Bruell, Co-Founder and CEO of Transcend Air said, “Because of the Vy’s high speed, we can complete many more passenger trips per aircraft. The Vertical Flight Society reveals that it now has 500 electric VTOL aircraft concepts cataloged on its World eVTOL Aircraft Directory. “Electric VTOL aircraft promise to be safer, quieter, cheaper and cleaner than today’s fossil-fuel-burning aircraft,” said VFS Executive Director Mike Hirschberg. “The aircraft design freedom from mechanical drive systems through distributed electric propulsion (DEP) allows myriad new vertical flight aircraft concepts, and innovators around the world are exploring the possibilities that electric propulsion can provide.”

Internationally Recognized Photographer’s Book Set To Release August 20

Joe Glyda will be releasing a book titled “World War II Aviation Artwork and the Stories Behind These Beautiful Birds,” on Friday, August 20th, 2021. Glyda is an internationally recognized, award-winning photographer. His love of aviation has brought him countless places. He has traveled to many airshows and volunteered with the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team at a small airport in Tulsa, OK, where he now lives. Glyda has photographed a great deal of aircraft which has led him to compile his latest book.

The Companies Will Bring The First Device To Market Mid-2022

Lufthansa Aviation Training will be the first to launch the new L3Harris Technologies Boeing 787 Flight Training Device. Accompanying this order is the Boeing 787 Full Flight Simulator to be used for instruction alongside the 787 FTD at their Frankfort pilot training facility. The Boeing 787 FFS and FTD will be delivered to LAT’s Training Centre in Frankfurt by the second half of 2022. L3Harris has also developed and delivered two advanced A320 FTDs and an A350 FFS to LAT. The FTDs will allow airlines and training operators to reduce costs while preserving efficiency.

After completing its 11th flight around Mars, NASA’s Ingenuity Helicopter captures images of the Perseverance rover during the mission. Perseverance was spotted amongst the sand dunes in the “South Séítah” region of the Jezero Crater on the Red Planet. Ingenuity set out to exhibit that powered, controlled flight on Mars is possible. It has progressed into demonstrating how a rotorcraft can add aerial dimension and scout areas of interest that may be too dicey for the rover to explore.

First Municipality In Georgia To Launch The FLYSAFE Program

The City of Johns Creek is partnering with Airspace Link, Inc., a provider of drone flight authorization and management solutions, to launch its new FLYSAFE program that helps local drone pilots fly safely and compliantly under FAA guidelines. Johns Creek is the first municipality in Georgia to launch the FLYSAFE program, which integrates FAA data with the city's interactive mapping services, giving drone pilots the ability to safely fly in the community by ensuring they avoid ground hazards and areas with high population densities.

PAG Expands Landing Gear Capabilities

Atlanta-based Precision Aviation Group reveals the acquisition of Trace Aviation of Jackson, Mississippi. TA is widely recognized for its MRO capabilities on King Air/1900 landing gear assemblies and has been specializing in the exchange and overhaul of King Air landing gear since 2004. TA repairs worn bores and bushings, brace assemblies, hydraulics, actuator housings, cylinder bearings and axles. The company stocks landing gear assemblies for King Air 90, 100, 200, 300, and 1900 platforms. The partnership is set to provide PAG with the opportunity to expand upon its landing gear work while allowing TA the same for its capabilities and reach.

On July 26, 2021, about 1320 Alaska daylight time, a Cessna 172P airplane, N65698, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Eagle River, Alaska. The flight instructor and private pilot received fatal injuries. The flight was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 instructional flight. The flight, operated by Angel Aviation Inc., Anchorage, Alaska, originated from Merrill Field Airport (MRI), Anchorage, Alaska, about 1215 and was destined for Girdwood Airport (AQY), Girdwood, Alaska.
