‘Disgruntled’ Worker Crashes Plane Into Former Workplace

Suspected Intentional Collision Killed Pilot On Impact

46-year-old pilot Juan Manuel Medina crashed a rented Cessna 150 into his former workplace. Authorities are still investigating, but their main theory is that the accident was intentional. Medina had been working for Air Liquide, a company that supplies oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen to medical facilities, since June 2023. He served as a warehouse worker for their facilities in western Rosaria, Argentina until being let go last March.

Fire Breaks Out at Historic Wright Brothers Facility

Charges Pending Against a Juvenile in Connection

Around 8:32 pm on August 13, firefighters responded to a fire near West Third Street and Cowart Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. Upon arrival, they determined the fire was inside a historic Wright brothers factory. No injuries have been reported, and Dayton Police arrested a juvenile related to the incident.

New York City Using Loudspeaker Drones For Flood Warning

High Tech Augments Usual Messaging Methods

New York City has added a new tool to warn residents about threatening weather and flooding: drones. Drones equipped with loudspeakers now buzz around areas of the city where severe weather or flooding is forecast to hit, warning residents to take shelter or evacuate. The drones are in addition to the types of alerts and warnings most of us are familiar with, such as radio, television, text, and social media. There is also a system in place to send alerts that reach more than 2,000 community-based organizations serving people with disabilities and senior citizens.

Organization Recognizes Trailblazing Former Air Force Pilot Theresa Claiborne

On August 15, the National Aeronautic Association announced that the 2024 Katharine Wright Trophy recipient would be awarded to Theresa Claiborne. She began her aviation career as a 20-year-old Air Force ROTC cadet. Claiborne faced several obstacles on her journey, but her incredible determination allowed her to become the first black female Air Force pilot at age 23.
