Cockpit Video, Audio & Flight Data Recorder Gets STC-ed
The Eye In The Sky cockpit recorder recently received the FAA green light with an Approved Model List (AML) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC). This single certification permits its installation on several helicopter models. The product received certification from the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in 2020.
Man Tried (And Failed) to Steal Two Different Planes
Sonoma County police are on the hunt for a man who reportedly attempted theft of two different aircraft at the Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport (STS) on October 13. Luckily, a member of the airport staff witnessed the event and was able to scare the man off before the situation got too serious.
Major Project Has Deep Connections With Local Community
The Commemorative Air Force’s (CAF) Razorback Wing in Little Rock, Arkansas, is diving into a major restoration of a Vultee BT-13 Valiant, a World War II-era basic trainer aircraft back to its original condition. During WWII, the Walnut Ridge Army Airfield was located in Northwest Arkansas. This was where BT-13s were used to train more than 5,000 student pilots between 1942 and 1944.

The Wings Over Houston Airshow, one of the most iconic and extensive flight history showcases, will celebrate its 40th Anniversary at Ellington Airport on October 26-27, 2024. The event will feature a flashy lineup of aerial performances headlined by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. The CAF Wings Over Houston was founded in 1984 as a tribute to wartime aviation and has grown into a premier annual event that connects the history of aviation with today’s technology. Rex Alexander spoke with Warren Curry of Skyryse about the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) SkyRyse is developing that it anticipates will be certified in 2025. The STC is for a fly-by-wire system named SkyOS, in this instance for the Robinson R-66 helicopter. SkyOS is very different from what helicopter pilots are used to.
