Govt Looks For An Upgrade Only After a Catastrophic Crash
In a stunning display of hindsight, Senators Jeanne Shaheen and John Hoeven have called on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to address its ongoing staffing shortages. Work on the SportPlane Resource Guide is going well… Albeit a little bit behind schedule, because as we got into this process, things became a bit more complicated simply because we learned we could do an even better job at certain aspects of this project than we thought from the beginning. They say that the enemy of true quality is the phrase "good enough" and we want to be far more than “good enough.”

From 2010 (YouTube Edition): An Extraordinary Gathering That May Truly Be The Last Of Its Kind
What a concept... An historic event, billed as “The Last Time”, was organized to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the DC-3 type aircraft. Designed as an airliner in 1935, the DC-3 was pressed into military service in WWII as the C-47 and served in every theater of the war. Formerly; the largest gathering of them, in any one place, was at the English airfields in preparation for the D-day invasion of Normandy. Some of these same crew members once again flew in these magnificent birds gathering at Whiteside Airport (KSQI) in Rock Falls, I
Airworthiness, Performance Criteria Accepted By JCAB

Spatial Disorientation During A Missed Approach In Instrument Meteorological Conditions
Analysis: A review of air traffic control (ATC) data showed that the airplane departed with an instrument flight rules (IFR) clearance for the destination airport. The pilot requested and was cleared for an RNAV (GPS) approach into the destination airport. When the airplane was descending through 3,500 ft msl , the controller instructed the pilot to report cancelling the IFR clearance and approved a radio frequency change. There was no further communication from the pilot; the ATC facility reported that radar contact was lost when the airplane reached 2,000 ft msl, which was normal for the approach.

Emphasis On Growing The Future of Aviation Through Concentration on 'AFFORDABLE FLYERS'
It's been a number of years since the Latest Edition of Jim Campbell's HUGE SportPlane Resource Guide first saw the light of day. That massive 1100 page book last featured over 800 exciting sport aircraft from all over the SportPlane universe... at a time when the SportPlane industry was still a healthy, thriving enterprise (those were the days...). While there has been some consideration, off and on, toward updating the nearly 5 pound book, the near implosion of the SportPlane and kit industry over the last decade has made such a pursuit an unwieldy one... until now.
