Also: Aeroprakt Handicapable Config, Atec 212 Solo, DJI NEO, Aero-TV Profiles Risen Transatlantic Flt

The 16th MidWest Aviation Expo is now history... and it sure was a good show. The ANN team sent four of our  top folks to the event and came away impressed with the quality of the aircraft we saw and flew and the fact that the industry is soldiering on despite the fact that MOSAIC has been oft delayed and is creating a lot of uncertainty among manufacturers and buyers. The latest version of Aeropilot’s L600 was a focal point of RT Aviation’s display at the 2024 Midwest Aviation Expo. Test flights in the aircraft were offered throughout the weekend. The light-sport Legend 600 is an all-composite, high-wing, strut-brac

SpaceX Raises Eyebrows With Shot Across the Regulatory Bow

Statement Takes Government Agencies to Task for Needless Bureaucratic Delays

SpaceX updated its official press wire with an exasperated rundown of the state of Flight 5, noting that "Starship and Super Heavy vehicles for Flight 5 have been ready to launch since the first week of August." The Flight 5 test will include their "most ambitious objective yet: attempt to return the Super Heavy booster to the launch site and catch it in mid-air." SpaceX doesn't quite move like the rest of Uncle Sam's usual contractors, carrying that get-it-done, mission-focused drive, so leaving everything paused as the courtiers shuffle documents between themselves leaves the team irritated and impatient.

'Twin Mustang', Introvert's Dream Fighter Hits the Market

Grand Champion XP-82 Comes to Market

While everyone enjoys a classic warbird, there's a certain kind of buyer who looks fondly at the "Twin Mustang" of yore, one of the USAF's last piston fighters to serve. Truthfully, the XP-82 isn't quite as simple as a conjoined Mustang, despite its looks, but it remains an oddball among long-range escort fighters of the late war to Korean War era. Originally designed to provide fighter coverage to long-ranged bomber sorties sorties, the XP-82 (later F-82 upon adoption) was born into the waning years of prop fighters, fighting for purpose in the dawn of the jet age.

Aero-News: Quote of the Day (09.12.24)

"It's understandable that such a unique operation would require additional time to analyze from a licensing perspective. Unfortunately, instead of focusing resources on critical safety analysis and collaborating on rational safeguards to protect both the public and the environment, the licensing process has been repeatedly derailed by issues ranging from the frivolous to the patently absurd. At times, these roadblocks have been driven by false and misleading reporting, built on bad-faith hysterics from online detractors or special interest groups who have presented poorly constructed science as fact." Source: SpaceX updated its official press wire with an exasperated rundown of the state of Flight 5, noting that "Starship and Super He
