Court documents have identified ‘SG Investment America’ as the successful bidder in the convoluted bankruptcy process that should see them as Icon Aircraft’s new owner. It was not a big draw--especially after a rumored 450 possible bidders turned them down... 'SG Investment America' is not as American as titled but pretty much owned by Chinese corporate interests... making Icon the latest of several American aviation concerns that have had their ownership and Intellectual property taken over by companies based in China... An amazing flight has just been completed with a unique and highly refined sport aircraft with what appears to hav

Icon Aircraft Bankruptcy Chooses A 'Winner' -- Appears to Be Chinese Ownership

'SG Investment America' Leads Small List Of Suitors

News, Analysis and Opinion by ANN Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell The long, embarrassing saga of Icon Aircraft is entering a new chapter as court documents have identified SG Investment America as the successful bidder in the convoluted bankruptcy process that should see them as the new owner later this year. It was not a big draw... and only General Atomics Linden Blue showed up as a serious bidder, but was not selected despite his extensive industry knowledge and his prior service as a member of the Icon Board. Some of the court documents are illuminating and some are puzzling... especially where they mentioned the company's 'status as a first mover in the am

FAA Seeks to Eliminate Close Calls on Runways

Risk Increases as Summer Travel Season Ramps Up

Warmer weather normally signals an increase in all types of activities on airports: higher numbers of commercial and general aviation operations, construction projects, and maintenance activities. The increased activity also tends to mean more vehicles and pedestrians operating on airports, sometimes in areas they are not authorized. The FAA has a commitment to safety in all facets of airport operations and is intent on reducing to zero the number of runway incursions and surface incidents. With the summer travel season upon us, they are particularly concerned about the number of vehicle-pedestrian deviations, or VPDs, which is when a pedestrian or vehicle enters any portion of airport movement

Aero-TV: GAMI's G100UL Coming To A Field Near You

Plenty of Gas On Hand To Get Things Started

The folks from GAMI have been hard at work bringing their G100UL Unleaded Avgas to market, making good on years of development. Jim Campbell, ANN Editor-in-Chief, stopped by the GAMI booth to get an update on their first steps into the market from Head of Engineering George Braly. It's quite clear by now that the reliance on leaded fuel is an achilles heel for those airports occupying valuable real estate around the country - fixing it could help disarm opponents of General Aviation of one of their most effective lobbying tools.

Aero-News: Quote of the Day (06.17.24)

“I am extremely appreciative for the opportunity to fly the F-15C over the past 20 years. The Eagle is an amazing aircraft and the air superiority mission provided experiences to fly the jet all over the world.  Our maintenance, logistics, and support Airmen deserve the credit for producing combat capable aircraft to safely fly more than two thousand sorties to get to 3,000 hours.  I’m proud to have reached the 3,000 hours milestone and I know that it wouldn’t happen without the great team that I serve with and my family at home.” Source: Col. David “Ripper” Anderson, commander, 159 FW, who recently landed his fighter jet to the cheers of gathered family members and fellow 159th Airme
