Space Perspective has announced plans to fly passengers and research payloads to the edge of space with its Spaceship Neptune, a high-performance balloon and pressurized capsule. Latest Flight Clears Path for Space Flight

Virgin Galactic has detailed the successful completion of the second SpaceShipTwo test flight from Spaceport America. This flight follows the completion of the first test flight from the Company’s commercial headquarters in New Mexico on May 1, 2020, and marks another important milestone as the team progresses toward the launch of Virgin Galactic’s commercial service. On SpaceShipTwo Unity’s flight deck were Mark ‘Forger’ Stucky and Michael ‘Sooch’ Masucci. Both pilots are commercial astronauts, having each previously flown Unity into space on different flights. Piloting the Company’s carrier aircraft, VMS Eve, were Nicola Pecile and CJ Sturckow.

In the most recent update, the 2020 EAA Annual Membership Meeting will take place Wednesday, July 22, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. CDT via YouTube Live. The Agency Issued SFAR 118 On April 29, 2020

NBAA seems pleased with an announcement by the FAA of upcoming amendments to Special Federal Aviation Regulation (SFAR) 118 extending validity on certain medical, training and testing requirements by up to three additional months. The agency issued SFAR 118 on April 29, 2020, in response to concerns raised by NBAA and other industry stakeholders about pilot training, currency and medical certifications due to expire as the nation grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic. As deadlines neared for the FAA’s extensions on those certifications, NBAA appealed to the agency for additional relief.

Mississippi State University’s (MSU) Raspet Flight Research Laboratory has been designated as the FAA’s UAS Safety Research Facility. Bombardier has confirmed the entry-into-service of the Global 5500 business jet, which was recently delivered to an undisclosed customer. There Are No Known Witnesses To The Accident Sequence

On June 5, 2020, about 0801 Pacific daylight time, a Cessna 175, N9217B, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Redlands, California. The pilot and two passengers were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. Recorded Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) data provided by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) showed that the airplane departed Big Bear City Airport (L35), Big Bear City, California at 0745, and proceeded southwesterly as it ascended to 9,300 ft mean sea level (msl). At 0751:36, the airplane began a descent followed by a left turn to a southeasterly heading; about 3 mi

AD 2020-13-03 Applies To Cracking Of The Diagonal Struts Of The Engine Mount Frame

The FAA is superseding Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2018-07-15 for certain XtremeAir GmbH Model XA42 airplanes. This AD results from mandatory continuing airworthiness information (MCAI) issued by the aviation authority of another country to identify and correct an unsafe condition on an aviation product. The MCAI describes the unsafe condition as cracking of the diagonal struts of the engine mount frame with potential detachment of the engine from the airplane. The FAA is issuing this AD to require actions to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective July 15, 2020.

ANN's Daily Aero-Term (06.26.20): Actual Calculated Landing Time

Actual Calculated Landing Time ACLT is a flight’s frozen calculated landing time. An actual time determined at freeze calculated landing time (FCLT) or meter list display interval (MLDI) for the adapted vertex for each arrival aircraft based upon runway configuration, airport acceptance rate, airport arrival delay period, and other metered arrival aircraft. This time is either the vertex time of arrival (VTA) of the aircraft or the tentative calculated landing time (TCLT)/ACLT of the previous aircraft plus the arrival aircraft interval (AAI), whichever is later. This time will not be updated in response to the aircraft’s progress.
