NBAA Welcomes FAA Extensions to SFAR 118 Med Certification, Training Deadlines

The Agency Issued SFAR 118 On April 29, 2020

NBAA seems pleased with an announcement by the FAA of upcoming amendments to Special Federal Aviation Regulation (SFAR) 118 extending validity on certain medical, training and testing requirements by up to three additional months. The agency issued SFAR 118 on April 29, 2020, in response to concerns raised by NBAA and other industry stakeholders about pilot training, currency and medical certifications due to expire as the nation grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic. As deadlines neared for the FAA’s extensions on those certifications, NBAA appealed to the agency for additional relief.

Raspet Already Conducts The Vast Majority Of Safety-Related UAS Research For Civil Use

Mississippi State University’s (MSU) Raspet Flight Research Laboratory has been designated as the FAA’s UAS Safety Research Facility. This designation puts the research center at the forefront of studying and developing safety and certification standards as UAS continue to be integrated into U.S. airspace. “Mississippi State University is a national research leader in many fields, and our foundational work with unmanned aircraft has positioned us, as this selection demonstrates, to help write the flight safety plan for this potentially transformational aspect of the aviation industry,” says MSU President Mark E. Last Year, Bombardier Confirmed The Global 5500 can fly 200NM More Than Planned

Bombardier has confirmed the entry-into-service of the Global 5500 business jet, which was recently delivered to an undisclosed customer.
