In a move that speaks to the increasing popularity of legalized gambling, American Airlines—the world’s largest passenger air-carrier—has entered an agreement to purchase up to twenty of Boom Technology’s Overture supersonic airliners. The deal, which contains options for an additional forty aircraft, follows United Airlines’ 2021 commitment to purchase 15 Overtures of its own.

Faulty Ejection Seats Inspected and Repaired

The majority of the U.S. military’s Lightning IIs were grounded for nearly three-weeks when a defect was discovered in a critical component of the aircrafts' British-built, Martin-Baker US16T ejection seats. The potentially defective component was identified by Martin-Baker as a cartridge-actuated device (CAD). The affected F-35s have been repaired and returned to service.

Wartime Death Toll Rises

The ongoing Russo-Ukrainian conflict has claimed the life of Captain Anton Lystopad, a Ukrainian fighter-pilot whose wartime exploits were honored by his country’s president. In 2019, Lystopad was recognized as the best pilot in Ukraine’s air force. 

Italy’s Air Corporate SRL to Offer Super-Midsize Jet for Charter

Bombardier, the Canadian aerospace powerhouse and maker of the wildly popular Challenger and Global Express aircraft families—has announced the sale of one of its new Challenger 3500 super-midsize business jets to Italian aircraft management firm Air Corporate SRL. The deal earns SRL the distinction of being the first aviation concern to offer the Challenger 3500 for European charter.

Connect Airlines, a division of Bedford-Massachusetts-based charter outfit Waltzing Matilda Aviation, is offering qualified pilots an eye-watering yearly salary of $250,000. What’s more, Connect plans to offer pilot’s perks the likes of returning to their home bases nightly, a four-on/three-off schedule, and an additional, tax-free, $1,500 monthly bonus to offset commuting expenses. Connect’s target passenger demographic is day-tripping business travelers; its equipment is Dash 8 Q400s leased from recently-resurrected UK regional airline Flybe. The nascent carrier's plan is simple, proven, and engenders some of the most attractive pilot gigs in the Part 121 industry.<

Enter the RA-6500 and RA-5500 TERRAIN Series

FreeFlight, the Texas-based aerospace technology concern specializing in satellite navigation sensors, radar altimeters, flight management systems, and other such contemporary avionics components, has announced FAA Technical Standard Order (TSO) certification of its RA-5500 and RA-6500 TERRAIN series radar-altimeters. The clean-sheet devices will provide aircraft operators the 5G-tolerant, highly-precise radar-altimetry critical for safe approach and landing operations in both RF-dense urban environments and mountainous terrain. The uniquely capable devices allow pilots and aircrews to safely operate aircraft even in close proximity to 5G cellular towers.<
