First Production Aircraft Delivery Is Slated For 2024

Boeing's Grey Wolf program is transitioning towards low rate initial production of the MH-139A Grey Wolf after completing the program’s Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) phase, recently delivering the sixth and final test aircraft to the Air Force. “Delivering all of the RDT&E aircraft to the Air Force enables them to continue critical operational testing and allows Boeing to focus on building the first production aircraft.” said Azeem Khan, MH-139 program director. “The Grey Wolf will provide crucial national security capability improvements to the Air Force. This is an important step in getting the aircraft into service.”

Annual Fundraising Effort Successful

A "record-breaking" £130,000 was raised by Aerobility at its annual Aviators Ball, with all funds going towards helping disabled people to experience flight. Prizes on hand ranged from flights aboard a Douglas C47 to an autographed RAF Red Arrows flying suit, alongside more than 95 unique aviation-themed items were up for grabs in Aerobility’s auctions running throughout the night. When all's said and done, the group had raised £130,000 through bids and donations, blowing away previous records.

Safran Says they "Exercised their Golden Power" with Veto but Will Continue Pursuit

Italian officials refused a proposed Safran acquisition of a section of Collins Aerospace, with back channels citing concerns of contracts for domestic European military programs. Safran announced the government veto on November 20th, putting off the acquisition of Microtecnica, the Italian subsidiary of Collins Aerospace (itself a Raytheon business).  Italy, so goes the rumor, was not too keen on allowing Microtecnica to end up in French hands. Safran's statement referred to the move as Rome's "decision to exercise its Golden Power" in opposing the sale, a somewhat melodramatic but not wholly inaccurate characterization of the veto. GAMA's 3rd quarter 2023 sales & billing report has been published with things looking more or less okay across the GA realm. The General Aviation Manufacturers Association releases numbers for the general industry to show the overall health of things, of particular note heading into the holiday season amid a nearly imperceptible fall from the post-pandemic highs of 2021. Results show that the first 9 months of the year saw "increased aircraft deliveries across all segments" in addition to "an increase in the overall value of the aircraft shipments." Anchorage to See 1st Aviation Official Conference

The National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) will hold its 2025 NASAO Annual Convention & Trade Show in Anchorage, Alaska. The event will mark the first time since 2008 that the convention sees Alaskan soil, at the Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center. The conference will be held from September 21st to the 24th with the assistance of the Alaskan Department of Transportation & Public Facilities. The 2024 NASAO convention will be held in the lower 48 in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Bureau of Aviation. The show will be held from September 7th to the 11th of 2024.
