EAA Aviation Museum Reopening To Public August 3

Still; Some Areas To Remain Closed For Public Health And Safety

The EAA Aviation Museum in Oshkosh, which has been closed since late March because of the COVID-19 outbreak, will reopen on a limited basis beginning Monday, August 3, at 10 a.m. The museum will have limits on the size of groups and total number of visitors allowed in the facility at any time. In addition, high-touchpoint areas and exhibits will remain closed and higher levels of cleaning and disinfecting are part of the reopening process throughout the facility.

Contract Extension Takes NASA-Boeing Partnership For Orbiting Laboratory Into Third Decade

Boeing will be pocketing a cool $916 million to continue supporting the ISS through September of 2024 under a contract extension awarded this week. Boeing will provide engineering support services, resources, and personnel for activities aboard the ISS and manage many of the station’s systems. Work will be done at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston; the John F. Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida; and Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, as well as other locations around the world. The contract is valued at about $225 million annually.

US Navy Blue Angels Will Headline July 3-4, 2021

KC Air Show Charities announced that the 2020 KC Air Show is being postponed due to ongoing COVID-19 safety concerns and rescheduled from September 5-6, 2020 to July 3-4, 2021 at New Century AirCenter. The September 2020 show was to be headlined by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds who will be replaced by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels in the 2021 performer lineup. NTSB Prelim: Lankenau Sopwith 9400

Control Failure Brings Down Sopwith

On July 3, 2020, a Sopwith 9400 experimental airplane, N5539, was destroyed when it was involved in an accident near Van Alstyne, Texas. The pilot received minor injuries and the passenger was not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 test flight. According to the pilot this was the 23rd test flight of the airplane, which was built following original design drawings.
