A number of computer media reports are providing details behind the massive Garmin ransomware attack that appears to have started last Thursday and brought many of their aviation services to a standstill. The most recent reports assert that Garmin is being hit up for a $10M Ransom via a ransomware strategy known as 'WastedLocker.' Media publication, 'BleepingComputer' has reported contacts with a Garmin staffer confirming the severity of the attack, the amount of ransom, and providing details that the company has heretofore refused to provide--despite the fact that Garmin's perils also have the potential to put others in harm or at hazard. Daher HomeSafe System Certified For TBM 940

The System Will Be Available For Retrofit On All Earlier Production TBM 940 Aircraft

Daher announced the certification of HomeSafe on its TBM 940, authorizing the availability of this emergency autoland system that would automatically bring the aircraft to a runway touchdown if the pilot becomes incapacitated. HomeSafe received its approval from both EASA and FAA airworthiness authorities. NTSB Prelim: Cessna 150

Witness Described Final Approach As Unstabilized, High, And Fast

On July 8, 2020, at 1554 Pacific daylight time, a Cessna 150H airplane, N22393, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Port Orchard, Washington. The pilot was seriously injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 91 personal flight. There were two witnesses to the accident, one near the approach end of the runway and one near the departure end. The airplane approached the airport from the east and entered the left traffic pattern for runway 02. One witness described final approach as unstabilized, high, and fast.

AD 2020-14-08 Prompted By Reports Of Main Landing Gear (Mlg) Torque Link Apex Pin Rupture

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all Airbus SAS Model A318 series airplanes, Model A319 series airplanes, Model A320 series airplanes, and Model A321 series airplanes. This AD was prompted by reports of main landing gear (MLG) torque link apex pin rupture in service. This AD requires replacement of certain MLG torque link apex pins and, for certain other pins, a one-time magnetic particle inspection (MPI) for cracking, and  replacement if necessary, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD 2020-0130, which is incorporated by reference.

AD 2020-15-02 Prompted By A Report Of Inadequate Clearance Between The Fuel Probes And Forward Fuel Tank Structure

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Gulfstream Aerospace LP Model Gulfstream G280 airplanes. This AD was prompted by a report of inadequate clearance between the fuel probes and forward fuel tank structure. This AD requires measuring the clearance between certain fuel probes and the forward fuel tank structure, and reinstalling the probes if necessary, as specified in a Civil Aviation Authority of Israel (CAAI) AD, which is incorporated by reference. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products. This AD is effective August 27, 2020.
