Weather Caused The Shuttle's First Two Landing Opportunities To
Be Waved Off
Space shuttle Discovery and seven astronauts ended a 15-day
journey of more than 6.2 million miles with a 0908 EDT landing
Tuesday at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The landing was
made in the third arrival window for the shuttle, after the first
two attempts were waved off due to poor weather.

The latest version of the TL-2000 Sting aircraft was introduced
at Aero Friedrichshafen, which wrapped up last week. The new Sting
aircraft known as the Series 4, or "S4" for short, features many
improvements which TL says further refine this already mature
aircraft.
The International Bureau of Aviation (IBA) gave its latest
assessment of aircraft valuations, as well as predictions for
future market trends, at the recent 24th Annual Finance &
Commercial Aviation Geneva Conference.
Companies Can't Come To Terms On Modified Agreement
Southwest Airlines notified WestJet last week of its intent to
terminate the agreement to offer connecting service between the
United States and Canada with WestJet. WestJet had recently
requested significant changes to the agreement that the two
airlines have had in place since 2008.
Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning
has signed an agreement with Great Lakes Helicopter Corporation of
Kitchener to expand aviation education at Conestoga to include
training on helicopters.
Cessna announced Monday it received an order last week for 12
Skylanes from the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), Cessna's largest fleet
operator. The Skylanes will be delivered before the end of the
year.

Belite Aircraft was named the 2010 Grand Champion Ultralight at
this year's Sun 'n Fun Expo in Lakeland, Florida. The award is

systems to give them the greatest accuracy possible. Cessna is
offering Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) upgrades for Citation

criticized European governments for their lack of leadership in
handling airspace restrictions in light of the Icelandic volcano
eruption and urged a re-think of the decision-making process.

Security
Leaders of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO
(AFA-CWA), which represents 16,000 flight attendants at United
Airlines, said again last week that any merger scenario will go
nowhere without a new contract and job security for flight
attendants.

the screening, selection and training of pilots and controllers and
methods to reinforce professionalism and excellence."
