Four Lost In Norway Overrun Accident

Atlantic Airways BAe 146 Catches Fire In Accident

Atlantic Airways has reported that a BAe 146, Flight RC 670, has run off the runway in Stord, Norway and caught fire. Four people are confirmed dead.

The four-engine British Aerospace jet  ran off the runway around 7:35 Tuesday morning local time carrying 16 passengers and crew. Three passengers and one crewmember died in the wreckage. Air/Sea rescue helicopters as well as airport rescue units were dispatched and a number of survivors were taken to the hospital.

The aircraft was on a charter flight carrying construction workers.

Atlantic Airways is based in the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic, located between the coasts of Norway, Iceland, and Britain. The company operates a small fleet of aircraft serving Scandinavia and London.
