Rush Limbaugh Receives Special Issuance Medical in Record Time

FAA Denies Special Treatment; Ex-Housemaid Requests TFR Over Home

By ANN Reporter Juan Jimenez

Rush Limbaugh has received a special issuance third class medical and student pilot certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration's AeroMedical Office.

While we admit that the fact that Rush Limbaugh wants to learn to fly is in and of itself a newsworthy item, we at ANN were rather astounded by the time it took for the special issuance medical to be issued, considering the circumstances.

Today is April 1st. The application was forwarded by Mr. Limbaugh's AME to Oklahoma City on March 23rd. You do the math.

We contacted the AeroMedical department's office in Oklahoma City, but they refused to comment, forwarding us instead to the Public Relations Department, where Miss Dot Thompson, who was recently honored as the FAA's oldest living employee, was happy to answer our questions.

"Yes, we can confirm that Mr. Limbaugh was sent his special issuance third class medical via Federal Express yesterday, and we did indeed received a signature confirmation via Internet, which we cannot release for security reasons," explained Miss Thompson.

"We understand that given Mr. Limbaugh's recent life events, there may be some discussion over the timing of this issuance. Nevertheless, the Federal Aviation Administration wishes to join the White House and the Republican National Committee in welcoming Mr. Limbaugh to the general aviation pilot community, and wish him well in his studies."

Miss Thompson added that "the agency acknowledges that it has received a request from a private party in Florida for the establishment of a special TFR above her home and that of the family for which she works as a housemaid. For reasons of privacy, we cannot identify either the person submitting the request, or the family she works for."
