Blue Origin Crew Confirmed For NS-30 Mission

New Shepard Will Have 6 Aboard For 10th Human Flight

Blue Origin announced the crew members for its 10th human mission and 30th overall flight. They are Lane Bess, Jesus Calleja, Elaine Chia Hyde, Dr. Richard Scott, Tushar Shah, and an undisclosed sixth crew member. This will be Bess’s second flight on New Shepard, the fourth astronaut to do so.

So far, Blue Origin’s New Shepard flight program has flown 47 humans above the Karman line, where the Earth’s atmosphere ends and space begins. Though somewhat controversial, it is generally accepted to be about 90-100 km (60-62 mi) above sea level.

Lane Bess: Cybersecurity expert who built Palo Alto Networks; Founder and Principal of Bess Ventures and Advisory, a family office fund that supports technology firms; Trustee at Carnegie Mellon University and supports philanthropic interests.

Jesus Callaja: Spanish television host, pilot, adventurer, and mountaineer; Hosts several shows on Spain’s Mediaset channels such as Calleja Planet, Flying By, and Calleja Universe; Passionate race car driver who participated in four Dakar Rallies that journey from France to Senegal.

Elaine Chia Hyde: Pilot, physicist, and entrepreneur; Space enthusiast and founder of media company Chicago Star and Eastside Enterprises that focuses on R&D for AI-assisted media products; Graduated from Melbourne University and studied physics and business.

Dr. Richard Scott: Embryologist, reproductive endocrinologist, professor, research scientist, philanthropist; Founded IVIRMA Global fertility care group with facilities in 10 countries; Founder and Scientific Director of The Foundation for Embryonic Competence that focuses on reproductive research.

Tushar Shah: PhD in particle physics, and is a partner and co-head of research at a quantitative hedge fund; Studied physics at MIT where he studied high-energy particle physics.
