GAMA Hails European Parliament’s Adoption Of New EASA Mandate

Paves The Way For A New, Modernized EASA Regulatory Framework

GAMA is congratulating the European Parliament for its vote overwhelmingly in favour of a new mandate for EASA, during a plenary session. The new EASA ‘Basic Regulation’ will replace the existing Regulation 216/2008. This decisive step follows more than two years of drafting and preparation by the EU institutions, which culminated in a political agreement among the Parliament, Member States and Commission on December 1, 2017.

Aerobatic Pilot Participated In Session On LOC Accidents

ERAU faculty member Carolina Anderson recently took a break from her favorite pastime – flying an aircraft upside down – to participate in a high-level NTSB discussion on how best to prevent aircraft accidents caused by in-flight loss of control. Anderson, an associate professor of aeronautical science – whose many achievements include being the first woman to receive a Ph.D. in aviation – was invited to join the roundtable event at the NTSB headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Chicago Brothers Sentenced To 15 And 12 Years In Prison For Airplane Loan Scam

Had Conspired To Fraudulently Secure Loans For Airplanes And Other Vehicles

On June 5, 2018, Ryan and Dusten Miller were sentenced in U.S. District Court, Worcester, Massachusetts. Ryan Miller received 15 years in prison and 5 years of supervised release. Dusten Miller was sentenced to 12 years in prison and 5 years of supervised release. Restitution will be determined at a later date.

FAA Puts 100LL Replacement Testing On Hold

Differences Between Two Fuels Under Development Are Being Evaluated

The FAA continues to be committed to evaluating suitable replacement unleaded fuels to support general aviation. Phase Two testing of unleaded avgas continues, having completed two and a half years of testing and evaluation since the FAA's selection of the two finalists in the Piston Aviation Fuels Initiative (PAFI) replacement unleaded fuels program. To date, the flight test program is approximately one-third complete, while the engine test program is about halfway complete.
