BushCat Returning As 'Bushcat Aircraft Australia'

New Team Rejuvenates Beloved LSA

The BushCat was manufactured in South Africa by SkyReach beginning in 2014, selling its first unit to a customer at EAA Oshkosh. It sold nearly 200 kits until April 2024 when it suspended operations. However, SkyReach just announced that the LSA is coming back into production under new branding as “Buchcat Aircraft Australia” with a new management team at the helm.

Current US President Joe Biden recently clarified his intention to finalize the Clean Fuel Program before leaving office for good in 2025. This regulation would award tax credits to companies that produce low-emission and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). The program aims to help the aviation industry reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, with a goal of producing 3 billion gallons of SAF annually by 2030.

High School Programs Bringing In More Young People To The Industry

Colorado’s Cherry Creek School District just outside of Denver has a unique program called the Innovation Campus that provides transformative educational pathways for students in 10th to 12th grades, including one that is training future aircraft mechanics. The Cherry Creek Innovation Campus (CCIC) recently expanded its aircraft mechanic program to three years, which combined with the FAA exams taken along the way, will enable students the training and qualifications they need to get a job repairing and maintaining aircraft right after graduation.

NTSB Prelim: North American Navion

Pilot Heard A Loud “Pop” And Felt Heat Coming From Behind The Pilot And Copilot’s Seats

On October 03, 2024, about 1730 eastern daylight time, a North American Navion airplane, N9117R, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident at Rutherford County Airport / Marchman Field (FQD), Rutherfordton, North Carolina. The pilot and passenger sustained minor injuries. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The pilot reported that he departed Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (JQF), Concord, North Carolina and was destined for FQD.
