President Trump has signed a series of executive orders that claim to strengthen domestic drone manufacturing, enhance public safety, and revive civilian supersonic air travel. The actions reflect a broader federal effort to reduce US reliance on foreign drone technology, particularly from China. One order directs the FAA to allow commercial and public safety operators to fly drones beyond the visual line of sight, a significant change from existing restrictions. It also supports testing of vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for potential roles in cargo delivery,

Classic Aero-TV: David Uhl and the Lofty Art of Aircraft Portraiture

From 2022 (YouTube Edition): Still Life with Verve

David Uhl was born into a family of engineers and artists—a backdrop conducive to his gleaning a keen appreciation for the form, function, and beauty of machines, and an intuitive understanding of the passions they inspire. Mr. Uhl purchased his first motorcycle in 1988, and his pencils, brushes, and artistic sensibilities hastened to document the arcane syncretisms of line, curve, and color by which the brute concomitantly aroused the intellectual and visceral ecstasies. In 1993 Uhl got about the business of producing numerous best-selling artworks for Harley-Davidson ap

Aero-News: Quote of the Day (06.18.25)

“On the average mission, a jet-fueled DeltaHawk engine is up to 40% more efficient than an Avgas engine—improving range, increasing available payload and lowering cost of ownership. Multiple redundancies increase safety. And operating with widely available jet fuel, you can fly anywhere in the world without the worry of finding places to top off. But we didn’t stop there. Our engine’s small, aerodynamic profile allows an elegant cowl design with less drag, further increasing fuel efficiency. To do that, we literally turned the engine upside down. And ended up doing the same to an industry." Source: Some of the background issued as a homebuilt RV-14 took flight this week with a Deltahawk Diesel under the cowling
