Piper Aircraft announced its new M700 FURY single-engine turboprop has received its type certification from Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA). The certification also includes approval for Flight Into Known Icing (FIKI). Piper Aircraft has a history in general aviation going back 85 years and the M700 FURY is the fastest single-engine aircraft in its history with a max cruise speed of 301 KTAS and max range of 1,424 nautical miles.
Camp Provides Opportunities For Teen Aviation Enthusiasts
The EAA has confirmed that registration for their 2025 Air Academy will be opening on September 3rd. This year, the organization has narrowed its focus to providing more opportunities for 14 to 18-year-olds. The 2025 camp, hosted at the EAA Lodge in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, will have six sessions from June 12 to August 2.

Early Experiences In Aviation Family Grew Love Of Flight
Tommy Hammonds grew up in the back seat of his dad’s Piper Cub and caught the aviation bug at an early age. His grandfather was also a pilot so Tommy got his private ticket at 19 and then decided to pursue a career as an airplane mechanic. With skilled A&Ps in demand, he didn’t have any trouble finding work after completing his training at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. Many of his friends in school went to the airlines but Tommy went in the direction his love of historic aircraft and general aviation took him. Only just 24 years old, he has made significant contributions to the Commemorative Air Force Minnesota Wing.
