An experimental Quad City Challenger II, which apparently had recently been stolen, experienced a terminal case of fuel exhaustion and subsequently made a forced landing on a bit of farmland, owned by Kristofer Surran, in Corbin City, New Jersey. The Hawaii Martin Mars Performs Its Final Flight

The Famous Aircraft’s Legacy Will Continue in the BC Aviation Museum

The British Columbia Aviation Museum shared that the Hawaii Martin Mars made its last flight on Sunday, August 11th. The aircraft is now permanently displayed in the museum’s Wildfire Aviation Exhibit. The Martin JRM Mars is a four-engine water bomber produced by Martin Company. It was designed for the U.S. Navy’s use in World War II, where it served as a cargo transport and long-range ocean patrol seaplane. This aircraft quickly became recognized as a feat of the American military as it was the largest Allied aircraft built during the war.

CBP AMO Works With Border Patrol To Rescue Wounded Persons

Crews Provide Emergency Medical Assistance to Undocumented Migrants

On August 2, U.S. Customs and Border Protection was notified of a 911 call indicating Mexican citizens had been shot across the border and crossed into the United States near Sells, Arizona. The Air and Marine Operations (AMO) aircrew and Border Patrol agents joined forces to rescue the injured migrants. The agents discovered two people in critical condition, one with a need for advanced medical care, one with an arm wound, and one uninjured.

The 106th Rescue Wing’s first HH-60W Jolly Green II search and rescue helicopter made its inaugural flight from Francis S. Gabreski Air National Guard Base Aug. 4. Lt. Col. James Liston, the first 106th pilot to qualify on the new helicopter, said it was an honor to pilot the first flight. “Being the first and being able to teach everyone here at the 106th is a privilege and a welcome responsibility,” Liston said. “I am absorbing everything I can with the Whiskey program both from Sikorsky, what active duty has done over the last few years, and my test experience so that I can bring that knowledge here and help set the 106th up for success,” h

On April 19, 2024, about 1330 eastern daylight time, an unregistered Bailey-Moyes Dragonfly airplane was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident at Sheets Airport (FA42), Groveland, Florida. The private pilot was fatally injured. The flight was operated under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight. According to witnesses, shortly after takeoff, the airplane climbed to an altitude of 200 of 300 ft before turning east.
