NBAA And Stakeholders Go to Court To Stave Off East Hampton Airport Closure

The fate of the East Hampton airport (HTO), some 40nm west of the Long Island Mac Arthur airport, is not yet sealed as the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and other stakeholders have filed motions in the local district court to delay its closure. The Town of East Hampton’s 20-year grant-based obligations expired in September 2021, and the town of East Hampton ceased accepting federal grant funds.

The FAA is issuing a license to the Huntsville-Madison Airport Authority in Alabama to operate the Huntsville International Airport (HSV) as a commercial space reentry site. NTSB Prelim: Dietrich Ryan S-4 Coyote 1

Airplane Immediately Began A Right Roll When It Was Only A Few Feet Above The Ground

On April 8, 2022, about 1530 Pacific standard time, an experimental amateur-built Rans S4 Coyote 1, N3156D, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Chula Vista, California. The pilot was the sole occupant and was not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The pilot stated that he completed a preflight inspection of the airplane with his mechanic and then started the airplane and taxied to runway 27. He aligned the airplane with the runway centerline and then gradually advanced the throttle for takeoff.

Obstacle Departure Procedure (ODP) A preplanned instrument flight rule (IFR) departure procedure printed for pilot use in textual or graphic form to provide obstruction clearance via the least onerous route from the terminal area to the appropriate en route structure.
