Marine Corps V-22 Osprey Makes 'Hard Landing' In Hawaii

One Person Fatally Injured, 21 More Hospitalized

A Marine Corps V-22 Osprey made what was described as a "hard landing" in Hawaii Sunday, resulting in the fatally injury of one Marine. Twenty-one others were hospitalized following the accident.

Fox News reports that, according to local military officials, the aircraft was engaged in "routine sustainment training" at Bellows Air Force Station in Oahu. The aircraft was attached to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, which is based at Camp Pendleton, CA and had departed My 10 on a seven-month deployment.

Witness Kimberly Hynd said that she had been hiking in an area near the site where the training was taking place, and that it appeared the aircraft were "doing some sort of maneuver or formation" and captured images of the aircraft prior to the accident.

Neither the Marine Corps or the Department of Defense offered any further details about the accident.
