Sandel Begins Shipments Of Collins-Approved SA4550 Attitude Display

STC List Now Includes Collins-Equipped Turbine Aircraft

Sandel Avionics announced Friday it recently began shipping a new version of its SA4550 Primary Attitude Display designed as a plug-compatible replacement for legacy electromechanical Collins flight directors. Sandel has also expanded its STC Approved Model List (AML) to certify installation of the SA4550 in several Collins-equipped turbine aircraft models.

Plug-compatible with the Collins ADI-84, ADI-84A and the 329B-7R series of flight directors, the SA4550 mates to the existing aircraft wiring harness and connector to minimize installation time. The 4-ATI sized SA4550 uses Sandel’s patented rear-projection display technology with LED-backlighting for maximum sunlight readability, 180-degree viewing angle, bright color rendition and an MTBF of over 10,000 hours.

"Owners of Collins equipped aircraft now have an affordable upgrade to the latest display technology," said Gerry Block, Sandel's CEO. "The SA4550 is straightforward to install, improves reliability, and our STC AML streamlines the approval process even in Part 25 aircraft."

List price of the SA4550 is $20,950. The new Collins compatible version joins an existing SA4550 version designed for Sperry flight director retrofits. Both versions can be combined with Sandel’s SN4500 Primary Navigation Display to give the pilot an electronic Primary Flight Display package.

List price of the SN4500 is also $20,950.
