Aircraft Down Near Wright Memorial In North Carolina

Neither Person On Board The Airplane Was Seriously Injured

A Fantasy SRO Air Allegro 2000 went down Sunday morning just inside the border of the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills, NC, but neither of the two people on board the airplane was seriously injured.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that the accident occurred about 1040 EDT Sunday. The plane came down in a stand of trees near the border of the park, according to FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen. She said the plane was intact, if hanging several feet above the ground in the trees.

While both people on board walked away, the pilot suffered an injury to his eye and was flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. The passenger was taken to Outer Banks Hospital with an unspecified injury.

Bergen said there was no property damage caused by the crash, which happened near a house on the edge of the park property.
