Certified (Provisionally): Gulfstream G650 Gets FAA OK

As Planned, Production Birds Head To Final Phase For Customer Deliveries In 2Q/2012

They did it. After the heartache of an unforeseen test flight tragedy and the intricacies associated with building their first Fly-By-Wire BizJet, Gulfstream Aerospace has received its Provisional Type Certificate (PTC) from the FAA. This clears the way for the company to begin interior completions of the ultra-large-cabin, ultra-long-range business jet in preparation for customer deliveries in the second quarter of 2012, as originally planned.

Indonesia's Lion Air Makes Largest Order In Boeing History

Has Taken Positions For 380 737 MAX Airplanes. President Obama To Attend Signing

Jakarta-based Lion Air has placed an order for 201 737 MAXs and 29 Next-Generation 737-900 ERs (extended range). The agreement also includes purchase rights for an additional 150 airplanes. Boeing says that with 230 airplanes at a list price of $21.7 billion, this deal when finalized will be the largest commercial airplane order ever in Boeing’s history by both dollar volume and total number of airplanes.

NTSB Investigator Speaks On Colorado Accident

Piper Malibu's Radar Track Shows 7,000 FPM Dive

A Piper Malibu that crashed in Colorado back on January 9, 2011 was last tracked by radar in a descent of more than 7,000 feet per minute. The revelation came Tuesday from NTSB Investigator Jason Aguilera. The accident claimed the lives of 66-year-old Dr. Michael Welton, a urologist who practiced in Waterloo, Iowa, and 70-year-old passenger Roswitha Marold, described as Welton's long-time girlfriend.

A significant milestone has been reached by a pilot of the F-22 Raptor fighter. The US Air Force reports that on November 4 at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska, Lieutenant Colonel David Piffarerio, commander of the 302nd Fighter Squadron, became the first pilot to fly 1,000 hours in the F-22.

Cirrus Aircraft announced this week that its SR20 aircraft has been selected by the Civil Aviation Flight University of China (CAFUC) as an aircraft that will be used to train its pilots. CAFUC is the largest flight university in the world with more than 8,000 full-time students studying civil aviation and related subjects.
