The L3Harris Technologies production facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma will see an expansion under plans to increase output as demand for special purpose aircraft are increasingly selected for their affordable, reliable, and capable designs. The announcement comes in anticipation of the U.S. Special Operations Command Armed Overwatch Program contract award for the fighting variant of their agricultural workhorse, the Air Tractor. The AT802-U Sky Warden takes the rugged aircraft and runs it through the gamut of Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Strike mission systems and suites to create a smaller, lighter, and cheaper aerial platform suited to the kind of missions undertaken by SOCOM.

Coast Guard Hoisted 3 Stranded Hunters Near Sand Point, Alaska

The Coast Guard hoisted three hunters Wednesday, who were stranded after their boat sank on the southern end of Popof Island. A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted all three hunters at 7:30 a.m. from the shoreline and transported them to Sand Point Airport where they were met by local emergency services. Watchstanders in the Coast Guard 17th District command center in Juneau received the initial request via a satellite communications device at approximately 3 a.m., from three hunters who requested help after their boat sank.

TF-X Fighter, Hurjet Jet Trainer, and Heavy Attack Helo Projects

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) has chosen the International Test Pilots School (ITPS) in Ontario, Canada, for one of the biggest flight test training contracts in the school's history. Turkish Aerospace has a full roster of developing aircraft to test and evaluate, including the Hürjet Advanced Jet Trainer/Light Attack Craft, the Heavy Attack Helicopter, and the upcoming TF-X fighter. In order to bolster their ranks of qualified test pilots, TAI has inked a deal for a group of 10 students to attend the school, in addition to those already in training.

On October 31, 2021, about 1334 mountain daylight time (MDT), a Beech P35 Bonanza airplane, N8625M, was substantially damaged with it was involved in an accident near Harrison, Nebraska. The pilot, passenger, and a dog were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The airplane departed Marion, Ohio (MNN), about 0800 EDT and stopped for fuel at Marshalltown, IA (MIW). This AD was prompted by a report of cracking in certain components on left and right sides of the aft wing-to-body fairing (WTBF) structure near the tie-rod attachment at a certain fuselage station; this cracking likely resulted from excessive tie-rod preload.
