Southwest Airlines pilots ratified their tentative agreement to the tune of 93% in their recent vote, solidifying the last of the 'Big Four' in domestic airlines. The deal stands for a 5-year contract, which will grant an immediate 29.15% increase in pay rates upon ratification, followed by yearly increases of 4% in 2025, 2026, and 2027. That drops to a smaller 3.25% bump in 2028. ARC Aerosystems has reported to ANN that it has finalized a transaction for the sale of five Pegasus aircraft to a Scottish investor to lease to a pilot training school and an aerial service operator, with ARC committed to delivering all units by the first quarter of 2026. On December 16, 2023, about 1150 Pacific standard time, a Vans RV-8, N6948L, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Corona, California. The pilot and passenger were fatally injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The pilot had flown the airplane to Corona on November 13, 2023, for the purpose of having it painted there. The accident flight was the first flight after it was painted.
