SUMMARY: The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive
(AD) for Hamilton Sundstrand model 14RF-9 propellers.
It's just like every other RANS product, except the S-19 is also
completely different. While it is a two-seat sport airplane powered
by a Rotax engine, it's a major departure for RANS in that it is an
all-metal airframe.
Evergreen International Aviation, which has put considerable
cost and development time into a 747-200 water bomber the company
says represents a "quantum leap" for fighting wildfires, reports
the mammoth tanker is ready to fly... but won't be certified in
time for this year's expected fierce wildfire season.
Bankruptcy Losses Mount... But Could This Be Worst Of
It?
It isn't easy being Northwest Airlines... but the bankrupt
carrier hopes it's seen the worst of it. Just two days after US
Airways reported a quarterly profit for the first time in five
years, Northwest had to report it lost a whopping $1.1 billion --
with a "B" -- between January 1 and April 1 this year.
The show at EAA AirVenture 2006 in Oshkosh won't be over when
the sun sets each evening, as the Ford Motor Company and Eclipse
Aviation are slated to present top aviation movies at the new
"Fly-In Theater" on the AirVenture grounds.
Boeing has announced it will deliver the first 787-9 Dreamliner

Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System -- The enhanced
version provides a much-needed "look ahead" function that provides
significantly more time for pilots to react. Briefly, the system
compares the aircraft's projected flight path to a terrain database
and provides a pictorial, color-coded display of terrain ahead and
to the side.
