Airborne 11.26.25: Bonanza-Baron Fini, Archer v LA NIMBYs, Gogo Loses$$$

Also: Bell 505 on SAF, NYPA Gets Flak For BizAv 'Abuse', FAA Venezuela Caution, Horizon Update

Textron Aviation has confirmed it will be ending production of the Beechcraft Bonanza G36 and Baron G58, after nearly 80 years of continuous manufacturing. The company is moving toward  new products such as the Beechcraft Denali, but promises to support the thousands of Barons and Bonanzas currently flying worldwide. The announcement brings to an end one of the longest production runs in the history of aviation. The first flight of the Bonanza was in December 1945 and production began in 1947. Archer Aviation’s plan to turn Hawthorne Airport into the heart of its Los Angeles air-taxi network earned it a big “WELCOME” from the mayor… and exactly the opposite from local NIMBYs. Members of the community started the predictable “Hawthorne Quiet Skies” group to express both confusion and disappointment with the

Aero-TV: Archer Midnight Dazzles Crowds at NBAA-BACE

Archer Aviation Shares Plans to Commercialize Electric Air Taxis in the US

Science fiction seemingly came to life at the National Business Aviation Association’s 2025 Exhibition and Convention, with Archer Aviation taking the stage to show that flying taxis aren’t just a concept: they’re airborne. The company’s Midnight eVTOL began flight testing in October 2023 and is expected to enter service abroad in the coming years. Archer is a home-grown next-gen aerospace company focused on “bringing advanced air mobility products to market in both commercial and defense sectors,” according to Eric Lentell, Archer’s Chief Legal and Strategy Officer. Its poster child, Midnight, is an electric air taxi that aims to change the game in urban transportation. Midnight was designed from the ground up for safety, sustainability, and low noise outputs, aiming to carry up to 4 passengers plus a pilot for shor

SportPlane Manufacturers: Time to Step Up and Send Your Info

Third-Edition Resource Guide is Getting Ready… But It’s Waiting on You

The third edition of the SportPlane Resource Guide—soon to launch as the expanded, fully digital eSPRG—is almost ready for release. The layout is there, dozens of instructional chapters are written, and hundreds of aircraft write-ups are complete. This edition will be bigger, more detailed, and easier to update than the previous 1,100-page print version (probably settling in at more than 2000 pages!), with the potential to far exceed even our own anticipations with S-LSA, E-LSA, ultralights, avionics, and accessories. The only major thing slowing it down is one simple piece: more data from manufacturers.

Immediately After The Right Main Tire Contacted The Runway Surface, The Right Main Landing Gear Failed

On October 31, 2025, at about 1227 Pacific daylight time, a Maule M-7-235A, N9234N, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident at Friday Harbor Airport (FHR), Friday Harbor, Washington. The pilot was not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight. The pilot reported that, as he approached runway 16, he observed there was a gusting crosswind from the left. The pilot compensated for the crosswind by landing on the left main tire first, followed by the right main tire.
