Also: 2023 SnF Innovation Preview, 2022 Collier Trophy, NASA’s TEMPO, Virgin Orbit Kaput

As the efforts of American farmers bring about the onset of the nation’s growing season, the National Agricultural Aviation Association (NAAA) has respectfully requested that operators of UAS—drones, remote control aircraft, and the like—be mindful of low-altitude manned agricultural aircraft operations. Archer Aviation’s eVTOL, dubbed Midnight, had recently completed a six-week series of tests in RUAG’s Large Subsonic Wind Tunnel in Emmen, Switzerland. Archer stated that the tests had covered a range of data germane to the aircraft’s performance, stability, and control characteristics, as well as its res

Democrats Cool on Acting Admin Nolen's Permanent Appointment

Out with the Qualified; Send in the Clowns

The FAA’s top spot remains occupied by Acting Administrator Billy Nolen—a former American Airlines MD-80, 757, and 767 pilot who put in stints with both Qantas Group and WestJet in the capacities of executive manager for group safety and health, and vice-president, safety, security, and quality respectively. That Mr. Nolen is eminently qualified to hold the FAA Administrator position on a permanent basis is self-evident. Whether or not Democrats will back him is another matter entirely.

ā€œDā€ Stands For Dreaded in Aircraft Engines

E-Mag Retrofit Frees Owners from Magnetomic Nightmares

Many dual magneto owners are faced with repeated inspections, lack of repair parts, and in some cases no options for repair at all as these units are no longer made or supported by the major ignition manufacturers.
