The B-29 “Doc” History Restored Tour will be returning to Chino Airport (CNO) in California October 9-13, 2024 for a weekend stop at Yanks Air Museum. 1,644 B-29s like Doc were built in Wichita, Kansas, at the Boeing Company’s plant. Doc rolled off the assembly line 80 years ago in 1944. It is one of only two remaining B-29s along with Fifi that are airworthy and flying today.

Paint Scheme To Honor Museum Co-Founder

The North American Aviation F-86 Sabre that was on display at Jamestown Regional Airport (KJMS) in Jamestown, North Dakota, has been moved to the Fargo Air Museum where it will be the honored guest at the museum’s 16th Annual Celebrity Dinner & Auction. The aircraft was disassembled and moved by a group including community volunteers, High Power Crane, and Industrial Builders, Inc. The 96-mile move along I-94 to the museum’s location at Hector International Airport (KFAR) was completed about a week before the museum’s fundraiser on September 12.

The likelihood of a strike at Boeing continues to grow as factory workers vote on a contract offer that their union negotiated. As a result, the troubled manufacturer may be adding another mess to its list: a 33,000-worker strike that could halt production. The West Star Aviation Academy (WSAA) was established in January 2024 in partnership with Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) and just graduated its first class of airframe technicians, who are now testing for their FAA Airframe License. The class of 23 celebrated their accomplishment in a ceremony at the Alton, Illinois campus with their families, fellow employees, community members, and industry leaders. Blended-Wing Body Finds Fans Overseas as Research Continues

easyJet announced a partnership with JetZero to utilize their hydrogen-powered Blended-Wing Body aircraft along the way to achieve their net-zero emissions goals. The partnership will see easyJet follow in similar footsteps as Alaska Airlines, who made news over the summer for their Series A investment in JetZero. easyJet will share its knowledge of hydrogen propulsion systems, all gleaned over its years of development in the UK. JetZero will get to learn from their pre-existing efforts, and evaluate the use of hydrogen tech on their basic aircraft design. easyJet will join the Airline Working Group, a JetZero body that aims to ensure a smooth and effective rollout.

The Airplane Pitched Nose-Down About 30° And Remained In That Attitude Until Ground Impact

Analysis: During a short cross-country repositioning flight in day visual meteorological conditions, the airplane was about 4 miles from the destination airport, on an instrument approach at 1,300 ft mean sea level (msl), when the airplane pitched nose-down about 30° and remained in that attitude until ground impact. Review of onboard recorder data revealed that during the 1-minute period prior to manual autopilot disconnect and the final descent, the autopilot was in approach mode, using glidepath (GP) for vertical guidance and GPS for lateral guidance.
