The National Air Transport Association (NATA) issued the statement below in response to the announcement by General Aviation Modifications, Inc., of the first delivery of its G100UL unleaded aviation fuel to Reid-Hillview Airport (KRHV) in Santa Clara, California. Curt Castagna, the President and CEO of NATA, also serves as Co-chair of the Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions (EAGLE) initiative, a partnership among industry and government dedicated to identifying and promoting safe and reliable unleaded aviation fuels for piston-powered aircraft..

NY Air Guard Modernizes Helicopter Fleet

HH-60W Jolly Green IIs Replace Older HH-60G Pave Hawks

The 106th Rescue Wing from the New York National Guard (NYNG) has formally welcomed the HH-60W Jolly Green II helicopters to its search and rescue fleet. They were introduced during a ceremony on October 25 at Francis S. Gabreski Air National Guard Base. The new choppers will replace the wing’s HH-60G Pave Hawks.

The Candy Bomber Foundation announced that Gen.(ret) Mike Minihan will join the Foundation as its new Chairman of the Board on November 1, 2024. This is the first position for Gen. Minihan since he recently retired from the U.S. Air Force after a distinguished 34-year career, ending as the commander of the Air Mobility Command. He served as a pilot, accumulating 3,400 flight hours with multiple deployments and many years overseas serving in Germany and the Republic of Korea.

Bell Textron Donates Nearly 2,000 Aircraft Components

Parts Worth $4.4 Million Shipped to Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies

Bell Textron Canada recently announced its donation of over 1,800 aircraft components to the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT). In total, these parts are worth around CAD 6.2 million or USD 4.4 million. This gift aims to improve SIIT’s Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) program. The donated collection encompasses machined metal components, sheet metal assemblies, and acrylic plastic panels, along with various electrical and mechanical parts and an array of hardware items. Each part was a spare from Bell’s surplus inventory, which is unusable on the manufacturer’s end.

Large Formation Skydiving Bigger In Texas

Team Of 56 Jumpers Set State Record

The saying that everything is bigger in Texas applies to formation skydiving as well. A team of 56 jumpers set the state record for a total break sequential (TBS) jump in August 2024. A TBS jump is when members of a group formation all release their grips, completely separate, then some back together into a new formation. This is performed several times in the same jump to achieve the sequential part.

Sixth Annual Awards For Canadian Women Pursuing Aviation Careers

Canadian aviation companies Air Canada and CAE announced the continuation of their collaboration with the opening of applications for the sixth annual Captain Judy Cameron Scholarships. Awards will be presented in 2025 to up to eight Canadian young women studying to become commercial aircraft pilots or aircraft maintenance engineers. Of those eight, four recipients training to be commercial pilots will join the CAE Women in Flight program as ambassadors.
